Supreme Court has adjourned the police torture case for 3 weeks.
During the case hearing, Justice Sair Ali said that the situation could be rectified if the cops who resorted to brutality be subjected to the same kind of torture. However, the IG Police said that the police morale has shrunk, and added that it has been hard for cops to get out of their homes in uniforms. The court ordered the Punjab government to submit report about police brutality within 3 weeks, and directed all the SPs to close down all the torture centers in their respective areas. Justice Javed Iqbal observed that in future IG would be held accountable, if any torture incident comes on surface. Advocate General Punjab Khawaja Haris said that police laws are being amended, which would certainly improve the situation.
The IG Police claimed that the media is overplaying the issue, while Justice Sair said that anarchy is being created by the police and not media.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan wants to boost bilateral ties with Afghanistan, and vowed to increase trade ties between the two countries as well.
Gilani expressed these views during a joint press conference with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Islamabad today. Gilani also declared increase in the scholarships for Afghan students and added that trade between both the countries would be increased by Rs5billion till 2015. Talking to media, Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said: I am in Pakistan to convey to the people of Pakistan that our destinies are shared, and assured PM Gilani of all-out support in war against terrorism.
He said sufferings in wake of the war against terrorism is shared by both the countries, adding that Pakistans role has been recognized. He expressed the resolve that both the countries would move towards peace together.
Q&A session:Replying to a question regarding Indian interference, Karzai said that Afghanistan would not allow its territory for terrorism against any country especially Pakistan. My country would not allow proxy war on its soil against any country whether between Iran and US or Pakistan and India, Karzai maintained.He said that his country is on good ties with India, but Pakistan is a twin brother. Answering a question on drone attacks, the Afghan President said that the issue is not within his remit, while Gilani said that Pakistan has categorically told the US that the drone attacks are counterproductive and demanded technology transfer to minimize the collateral damage. On water issue, Karzai said that his country would not take any step that would reduce the water flow towards Pakistan.

Trust being restored between Af-Pak: Nasim Zehra
Senior analyst Nasim Zehra, while talking to Dunya News said that ties between Afghanistan and Pakistan are getting better and trust between both the countries is being restored of late. She added that Karzais visit would also help increase the relations.

Two persons, including the son of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor, Amir of a banned religious outfit, were killed, while five people including Maulana himself and another of his sons got severely injured in Nazimabad, Karachi.
Karachi Amir of an outlawed religious organisation Ahle Sunnat Maulana Abdul Ghafoor received gun shots at his abdomen and foot.The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Abdul Ghafoors condition is stated to be out of danger.

The UK-based child abducted from Jhelum some seven days ago has been recovered from Sialkot the other day.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, while talking to Dunya News, confirmed that the child Sahil was recovered the other day, and added that he has flown to England along with his father.Sanaullah told the media that close relatives were involved in the kidnapping, adding that childs recovery was deliberately kept in secret till today. The minor namely Sahil has been kidnapped during a dacoity bid a week ago from Jhelum.
The kidnappers demanded heavy ransom for return of the child.

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ijaz Butt has said that Muhammad Yousuf and Younis Khan could be taken back in the team, if both of them show some discipline and maintain their fitness.
Talking to media, Butt noted that there multiple reasons for barring the players, however, added that the decision has been taken to improve teams efficiency.Butt told the media that Younis himself has asked him that he would not play in T20.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said that the dialogue with the Taliban is underway, and added that reconciliatory process would be continued to maintain peace in the region.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Karzai said that Taliban were being provoked to fight against their own country, adding that talks would be held only with those Taliban who have got no links with al-Qaeda.He noted, Both Afghanistan and Pakistan have been bearing terrorism for the last two years, however, now we have realised that the Pakistans loss is greater.
Replying to a question, the Afghan President said that despite huge financial aid from India, his government gives more importance to its ties with Pakistan. Later, Karzai called on Army Chief Ashfaq Kayani and is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Gilani today.

Police has booked PML-Q Information Secretary Marvi Memon for leading a protest demonstration against provincial governments obstinacy regarding contractual employees of the National Programme for Implementation of Watercourses (NPIW) in Karachi today.
The NPIW contractual employees have been staging a sit-in outside Karachi Press Club by the of for the last seven days for job regularization.An FIR has been filed against Marvi in Police Station Artillery Ground, which contained riots, and anti-peace sections against her, however arrest has not been made so far.
Referring to the FIR, Marvi, while talking to Dunya News, said, The government is employing such tactics because it is fearful of our sit-in, however, she vowed, I will not call off the sit-in unless the temporary employees get job regularization.She called upon the PML-Q members to raise the said issue in the National Assembly session to be held today.
